Who on earth are Psyrena and Mr. Bear?

Psyrena live

Psyrena is like no musician you’ve ever come across before. Part comic heroine, part music avatar, Psyrena is a one-of-a-kind artist breaking into the real world with her brand of what she likes to call ‘bipolar electronica’.

However, the young and power-enhanced songstress is not alone in her pursuit of getting her music to the masses. Alongside her is Mr. Bear – her spirit animal, furry friend and keyboard extraordinaire who adds his talents to the line up.

Together, the pair create an infectious brand of pop music that is heavily led by an electronic persuasion; a sound that draws upon everything from the avant-garde to fairy-girl baroque-pop.

Although Psyrena and Mr. Bear create a dichotomy of styles, some of their music being particularly dark, their latest single ‘Rainbows and Unicorns’ is an upbeat, super catchy pop anthem, with a chorus line that will be lurking around your head for days.

However, they aren’t just about making great music. Within their unique and pioneering sound, Psyrena and Mr. Bear aim to tackle a smorgasbord of modern societal issues, most importantly, the discrimination and disenfranchising of ‘other’ communities. As a result, the magical-musical duo look to empower the ideas of the LGBT community, feminism, womanhood and escapism from the often horrific and hateful world we live in.

As well as this, the pair feature in their own comic book series (they’re quite the multi-faceted act) where they combat the same themes as previously mentioned, along with their group of supernatural friends.
