After debut EP success, Aaron Fyfe set for Double A-Side release

“One of the finest things we’ve heard all year” Ravechild

“It went down a storm, it could quite easily be a top ten UK chart hit” Kinnaird Radio

“The talent of Aaron Fyfe is evident… definitely someone to watch for” Glasgowwest

After the recent success of his debut EP, ‘Closer To You’, Glasgow based singer-songwriter Aaron Fyfe is back with a stunning Double A-side release: Freedom Fighters/Angels.

Signed last year to Innovation Music after an impromptu performance at a party (a testament to the raw talent of the Dunblane-born artist); Aaron Fyfe has a distinct, honest quality to his music which has recently impressed both producers and critics far and wide. This impressive list of names includes Grammy winners Sean Magee (John Lennon, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones) and Steve Price (Adele: 21, Emeli Sande: Our version of events); alongside Jud Mahoney (Michael Jackson, Mariah Carey, and Justin Timberlake); and Robin Schmidt (Jake Bugg) who have all worked with Aaron on recent releases.

The two tracks are a really interesting pairing, a great contrast that showcases the versatility of Fyfe as a musician. The intricate ’Freedom Fighters’ was inspired, in Fyfe’s own words, by “being blasted with advertisements for anything and everything… And all this celebrity nonsense – no one is better or more beautiful than anyone else”. Fyfe’s main influences Ray Lamontagne and Tracy Chapman are evident; but the single is also reminiscent of both Ben Howard and Passenger. With a mix of delicate falsetto and gravelly bass notes, Fyfe voice passionately conveys the message behind the lyrics over strong guitar riffs; culminating in a track that is delightfully easy to listen to.

Fyfe has always been a strong lyricist, and received high praise for the songwriting skills he displayed on his recent EP ‘Closer To You’ (“we see the fantastic strength in the songwriting capabilities of Fyfe” – Ravechild). In this latest musical instalment, it’s evident Fyfe has further strengthened these skills two produce two beautifully mellifluous tracks.
